Elgan Rhys
Lead artist: Elgan Rhys, in partnership with Pontio (Welsh language/bilingual residency)
Venue partner: Pontio Arts Centre
Elgan is a bilingual (Welsh and English) devisor, performer and writer. Through a multidisciplinary process he explores personal experiences and the human condition, questioning and celebrating our actions and the emotional consequences. Previous works with the company include Llais / Voice (2013) and Ti.Me (2015), and works primarily as a co-devisor and writer on the projects. He is currently in the process of developing his third production supported by ACW and Sherman Theatre, which involves participatory and socially-engaged work. Elgan has worked with children in the arts in different capacities, from running termly workshops leading to performances, to week-long summer schools, and one-off workshops with children and families in varying contexts.
Chwarae
Artist Elgan Rhys explored the importance play has in the relationship between children and adults. This work-in-progress celebrated the complexities of the how, where, why, with who and what of play in our ever-busy world…
Chwarae is a sensory feast featuring live music, stunning moves and was developed collaboratively with families from North Wales, R. Seiliog and Matt Gough.
Chwarae was performed at Pontio and presented as a work in progress at the Agor Drysau Festival in 2019.
Chwarae 2020
