When the walls of a Welsh castle start to crumble because of the two dragons who live in the dungeon, only someone of pure Welsh heritage can stop the battle... but how exactly do you know if someone is Welsh or not?
Featuring music, rap, and a historical twist, this bold new play for children explores Britain’s black ancestry, challenging us to question the stories that have been handed down from generation to generation.
Funny, fast and thought-provoking, The Welsh Dragon weaves together the well-known myth with historical hidden truths to explore identity, ethnicity, and the origins of human life on the British Isles.

Teacher Resource Pack
This resource is designed for teachers bringing children to see The Welsh Dragon in autumn 2024 at venues across Wales. The Welsh Dragon is aimed at children aged 7-13. The pack has been created to help teachers explore the themes of the production before or after their visit.
Did you know that you can apply for funding to help your school group visit a theatre to see The Welsh Dragon?
Go and See is an Arts Council of Wales grant that can be used to fund visits to high-quality arts events in galleries, theatres, arts centres and other venues. Schools are able to apply for up to £1000 of funding towards the costs of transport and/or show tickets.

In Kyle’s words, this is what audiences can expect...
The Welsh Dragon is a comedic, historical, mythological storytelling show told using verse, rhyme, music and rap. A rapsical play! It explores the origins of Britain using the mythological story of The Welsh Dragon. I suppose it’s really about breaking down the conventions and identity of what people perceive British and Welsh people to be. And trying to throw away all of that and put a bit of truth in mix of the origins of British people and that they aren’t all white and they came from many different places and were the original Britons.
